This depends on when her last period was. If she is pregnant, there are TWO times when it's pretty normal to have spotting. Is the blood brownish? Is it alot?
If it's just brownish or just a little bit of red blood, normal times would be about the time she WOULD start her period as her body is just telling itself that she's pregnant & "hey. we have pregnancy hormone now (HCG: human chorionic gonadotropin which will show up as a positive on a preg test). we don't need to have a period." the body is adjusting to being pregnant after menstruating for a long time. some woman who've just had a baby won't have this as their body was used to being pregnant. this would happen at four weeks / late period.
Another normal / early pregnancy spotting time would be at six weeks, women may have spotting from the embryo IMPLANTING itself into the uterine wall. this is caused by the embryo embedding itself into the lining and the lining where it implants can't shed a bit.
if she has a lot of blood or has a lot of cramping and a positive pregnancy test, that is indicitive of a miscarriage. chances are if she has the aforementioned 4 or 6 week spotting, the pregnancy will be fine. After nine weeks, the pregnancy is assumed to continue just fine.
if she bleeds alot or has cramping, have her see a doctor. if the pain is very bad, have her go to the hospital.
after nine weeks, the baby has heart tones that are apparent at the doctor's office by ultrasound.
good luck!
p.s. bed rest early in pregnancy doesn't help. unless she has a known cervical condition known as incompetence. (if she's had premature babies or surgery on her cervix it won't hold the pregnancy as well.) early miscarriages are not caused by activity on the part of mom. they are in a nice cushy fluid filled place that protects them well. early miscarriages are going to happen in 50% of pregnancies and they are from genetic problems and are going to miscarry regardless of what mom does. if she does rest and loses the pregnancy anyway, she will feel like she did something wrong and this is not true. if it's going to happen in the first trimester, it's usually unavoidable.

Go see your primary care physician about your desire to get pregnant. S/he can help you and your husband conceive by offering suggestions.
The only way to be *sure* you are pregnant is to take a pregnancy test. Also understand a lot of fetuses don't make the first trimester, but because most women are too busy, they don't notice between a heavy period and a miscarriage. When you're focused on it and find out ten days after conception (like you can with modern pregnancy tests), it's very scary because you're playing a waiting game to get through that first trimester.
My suggestion? Plan this pregnancy -- you will be happier you did, and it will give you a head start if you have fertility issues.

You may not have necessarily miscarried. How are you sure that you are/were pregnant? Were you tested? It could be just early spotting or implantation spotting. Are you still bleeding? How far along would you be? If you are more than a month or so gone, you would have pain with the bleeding if it's a miscarriage.

Go see your Dr. if you have any concerns. Blood and Cramping are signs of a miscarriage but not always. Good luck.

Have you taken a home pregnancy test yet and have it be positive? If not then take one. If it is positive then go to the doctor asap. If it is negative then you may want to call the doctor and tell them your symptoms and how you just "felt pregnant"

It all depends on how many months you were pregnant. Go and see your doctor. Tell them you thought you were pregnant but now you are bleeding. Hopefully, you weren't pregnant and it was just your "time of the month". I hope you get pregnant soon.

go to your Dr. unfortunately when you miscarry your blood tests will still show up as pregnant for up to a month due to raised hormones.
