i386 is a folder for older files used on Windows 95/98. Viruses aren't going to infect there because there's nothing used on a regular basis.

Re. the response below: Really.... what's the Cabs folder for then? I guess that wasn't part of your "I have a pulse" certification.

The i386 is a windows folder in to which all the working files of Windows are stored and also stores important files that work in the background. Please don't mess with it and don't bother scanning it. It could not possibly get infected and if it does, you'd have to reinstall the windows. So, in short, don't bother.

They are compressed .CAB files for your OS.
