I have problems with irregular periods, excess body hair and acne. These are all clearly signs of hormonal problems but I am wondering what an alternative to birth control may be.

Royal Jelly!! It helps your body create natural hormones. The downside is it also will increase your sex drive ( unless that is your intent). It works for both men and women. The fresh Royal Jelly works best. It is very bitter but you get used to it. It also helps with fertility problems. If you have trouble finding it you can get it from beeroyalproducts.com. They will ship it out frozen next day air via UPS.

You want to avoid dangerous hormone replacement therapies. Birth control is a mild form of one.

Arbonne makes a great, botanically based, hormone balancing cream. There are two actually. The PhytoProlief contains phytoestrogens (estrogens derived from plant sources) and the Prolief does not contain any estrogens from any source. They both come in a pre-measured pump so you don't have the fuss or muss of measuring. They're convenient and safe. Go to the website and click Shop Online to see purchase information. For ingredient information, click the "contact me" link to request a PDF document that contains all of the nutritional information (great for taking with you to your doctor to discuss it with him!).

I have looked on www.lycos.com. I found information about foods that are high in estrogen. Estrogen, although you probably already know, is a femlale hormone. You can eat foods high in this hormone to balance yourself. If your out of balance the other way. You can eat foods high in Testosterone, which is a male hormone.

Some of the foods high in Estrogen are potatoes, meat flesh, eggs, apples, carrots, and dairy.

Get off the pill and get one of those new cervex rings. Your doctor can help you with the fit and they are less troublesome than remembering to take a pill everyday. Your symptons sound like sever side effects of the pill you take. Perhaps it is time for you to change and get some relief.
