me being 15 myself suggest that you give her some money so she can get what she wants and if you don't get her no money take her to a clothing store and let her get an outfit and you can pay for it after she picks out the one she wants or look into buying her something that she wants really badly because she probably has thrown several hints about something, maybe buy and i pod or mp3 player or a new phone or a digital camera.

Hi New Mom
Getting a gift for a teen-ager is tricky anyway, but this may help. 1. Check out what kind of relationship with her.
2. Buy from your heart not the mother's
3. Never try to compete with another gift, if she realize that she will ( in the future ) take it to another level.
4. You want her Love, not purchase $
5. Or just take her shopping.
6 An idea: When my daughter turned 14 yr old and my son 12 yr old for Christmas I took $ and wrapped it in different packages and put under the tree, jewelry boxes, album covers, wallets, shoe boxes and anything I could to make it look like they had a lot of gifts. The next day I took them shopping to get what-ever they wanted. Just a idea. Give from your Heart with LOVE.

I'm guessing she lives Mom..? Be cordial and polite and civil, call the Mom and ask her what would be a good gift. Tell her that "You know what she wants or needs much better than I do, so I thought I'd pick your brain for some ideas." We have custody my stepdaughter now, but before, even though the Mother hated me, I'd always make the effort to find out specifically what her Mom wanted us to get her. If that won't work with you, go with clothes or boots, or the Merle Norman makeover with some makeup to take home.

Try a gift card for her fave store, that way she can pick out what she wants and you won't have to worry about getting her something her mom already got her or 'outdoing' her mom. If that's not an option DVDs, books, or games are all great options.

I suggest a gift bag with different kinds of acessories (belts, jewelry, a handbag or two), a few items of smell good from bath and body works, decorative pens and colorful note pads to go in her purse, hair barrettes, and a modest gift card to her favorite store (No more than a 100 dollars)

Talk to her mom about what she is getting her. When I was 15, I liked gift cards and money so I could pick it out myself.

Clothes should be good...take her out to see what kind of things she likes. Or get her a gift card for her favourite store, and let her go and get it herself.

You sholudn't be worried about that you need to buy her what you want her to have not what her mom want. But clothes are the best way to avoid confusion!

Give her some money, chances are she will not like what you buy her anyway.
