I'm a massage therapist and this is very common! First of all, if you are doing a lot of driving you should be streching before you get in the car and after you get out. If you are able to bring a heating pack to work (there are many that you can find on-line that you can hide under your clothes www.massagewarehouse.com), strech, then place the heating pack on. Also, I would try massage before anything else. Find a CMT or LMT that knows MFT work. MyoFasial Therapy. It's very specific work and is MEANT to correct postural issues. You will most likely have to go to a private practice (instead of a spa) to find this. However, if you live in a big city, a lot of times there will be a massage school that you can go to (student massage clinic = cheaper...if money is an issue). I believe you can also find a therapist at the AMTA website, if any are in your area...I could be mistaken on that however. I hope this helps, good luck!!!

You need to buy a lumbar cushion for your car seat when you drive to protect your lower back from the strain. Another one for your chair at work will do wonders as well. You also need to take longer or more breaks when driving or sitting. Stand up and walk around for at least 5 minutes for every 200 miles or 1 1/2 hrs of sitting in the same position. For the pain, get some of those back heat wraps you can get from the local pharmacy or grocery store that you wear under your clothes and last for hours. You'll feel great.

See a Massage Therapist!! I am sold on Trigger Point Therapy.
Dr. Travell developed it in the United States in the 1940's. Travell advanced the theory that pain experienced in one part of the body is actually caused by an injury or dysfunction in another part of the body.Travell's work came to national attention when she treated President John F. Kennedy for his back pain.
You will be amazed on how much better you will feel with just 30 minutes of Trigger Point Therapy work done on you!

Normally lower back pain is due over weight. Excessive driving means are you a cab driver or like that? If so then walk daily atleast 2 kms after your work. This will improve a lot in your situation.

A lot of chronic back pain is very effectively treated with a combination of chiropractic and massage care. Pain relievers will only mask the issue, not resolve it. In some cases, pain relievers can make the pain come back worse once it wears off. Please see a specialist, like a chiropractor, who can find the root cause and correct it!

I have a chronic back pain.It was cured first by Yoga practitioner from B.K.S Iyengar's school of yoga, where they give twisting postures instead of back bend and front bend which in my experience harmed me more.I also got Varma massage.and it did help a lot, when the pain reoccurred after years. But finally i found homoeopathy giving me the best relief.
