Normandy is in the north - western part of France

No, it is not on the southern coast of France! It is the northern coast. There is a peninsula on the far northwestern limit of France called Brittany. Normandy neighbors Brittany to the East. Normandy is the coastal areas between Brittany on the West and Calais on the East. Calais is the peninsula on the northeast coast of France.

Look at the map if France, there is a part that sticks out on the northern shore, pointing toward England. That is Normandy (and Brittany).

It's not on the Southern coast of France. It is that little nub comming off the left side of France when you look at the map. It's not far from the English coast.
