I think there is an "instant gratification" factor going on here. People like to see their names/avatars on the list. Why else would we get the same inane questions (". . .words ending in -gry," ". . . center of a tootsie pop") over and over and over and over again?

The ones that really crank my torque are the ones who will repeat their question three times within a minute. These are the same ones that can be counted on to not go back and pick a "best answer." How inconsiderate on both ends!
