Child labor practices not only submit children to unsafe, unhealthy slavelike conditions, but keep them from going to school, interacting and learning with family and friends, and other necessary parts of a healthy childhood development.

Unfortunately, in India the economy was so bad, child labor could not be outlawed because more children would suffer, starve and die than with this option. So until the economy is stabilized, it has been used as an extreme measure.

Solutions:
* The Grameen Bank just won a Nobel Prize for microcredit financing to jumpstart businesses in low-income areas to eradicate poverty. If this system is applied to create more jobs in daycare and schools, adults and especially women can be gainfully employed while children have resources for education and proper development. Also, setting up teaching hospitals would provide medical care, jobs and education to interns who serve in public health.

* Service exchange with prison labor -- I would propose the option of voluntary or mandatory "community service" for inmates in prisons to provide restitution by performing labor in place of 1-5 children in a factory, to support their families, while those children can go to school and have a chance at a better life. I would especially propose this as an alternative to the death penalty, by giving convicts the option of life of foreign labor instead of execution. Since murderers can never bring back the life of the person they killed, I would ask them to save the lives of children sold into slave labor, or young women otherwise sold into sex trafficking, as restitution for rape. This way, there is a consequence for crime, in the form of restitution that provides a much needed service to society to the same degree of the violation committed.

So instead of spending billions of taxpayers' money on capital punishment and a failed prison system, why not allow a "prison exchange" where inmates can either give up their lives or choose to give up their citizenship in this country and work in a foreign country to replace child laborers in factories as restitution to society. I think that would address two problems at once -- by deterring criminal violations through productive alternatives that benefit other people.

Depends on the situation. I would rather see a child making shoes than being forced into prostitution. The parents are to blame. Stop having children if you are too poor to take care of it. Why would you make your child suffer as you have to suffer?

it really is definitely perfect for persons to enlist the help of their children the position companion and youngsters paintings is worried. no longer actually does it relieve distinct the father and mom rigidity, even though it also teaches the children duty from a snug age. for sure, there are limits to this, the job performed must be done is fairly of the age of the newborn. this isn't newborn labour - it really is how a kin works and survives.
