My daughter did the same thing when she was that age. It drove me bonkers because she would grab both sides at the same time and actually pull chunks! She started to get balding patches!!
Obviously, the behaviour did stop after a little while. Everytime I caught her doing it, I would gently tell her "no" and encourage her into another activity. I also found that having gel in her hair, or hair clips of some sort curbed the behaviour.
I don't think there was really any other reason other then, "I can do this, so I will"......."it gets me attention etc etc etc".

Don't worry, she'll stop sooner or later :)

Alot of chilren do this while teething, as well as other things. my doctor told me that when my daughter was doing these kinds of things, it could possibly be that they are trying to focus on something other than the pain of teething. Just give your baby some baby orajel on his lil gums. and then when he starts pulling on his hair gently put his arms down nd say 'no hunny'. it may help and it may not but eventually he will outgrow it.

Some babies find it soothing and will sit and pull their hair for hours. Its actually pretty normal. A lot of babies will do it while falling asleep too.

my son did this alot too beacuse he was teething. weird i know but its true usually he would pull his hair when in pain, he wouldnt cry or anything but he would tug on his ears and hair. he outgrew it so if its not scaping him or anything i would just give it some time. is he teething?

SOme babies do it out of frustration, or for soothing them. Most do it because they can , its a for of play to them.
