Bring our boys and girls home from war and close up shop until the world sees how much they need us. Running anytime soon for office?

It would be a good idea. Might show the rest of the world just how much they need us. Other countries ask us for help. So we help and then countries are mad at us for doing so. We tried to remain neutral through world war 1 and 2 and the world got mad at us. It doesn't matter what we do, the world will be mad at us. I guess that's what happens when you are the most powerful country. With power comes enemies. I know how President Bush feels. Any time something bad happens that has to do with this country. People point fingers at the President.

Our period of isolationism ended in 1916 with our entry into WWI. We will never be able to go back to that time. We are a super power of the world, and with that status comes responsibility. We are supposed to help other nations that are not able to help ourselves.

There will always be poverty, and there will always be illegals trying to cross our borders. This was a fact even during our isolationism. Nothing in this world can fix that.

All that we can do is try to give what we can and help who we can. What do you do to make a difference? Do you donate to the Salvation Army? Do you help out at soup kitchens? Have you helped Habitat for Humanity build a home for a family that has nothing? What did you do during Hurricane Katrina?

We all, as US citizens, have a responsibility to help our citizens in need. Do your part, and things will change. Nothing will happen if we don't all stand up and make it change.

That's not a very smart thing to do considering that's what China did way back in the day when they were the superpower country of the world, and look where it got them...only recently are the starting to come back and play with the rest of the world which is giving them increasing influence in the world. If we cut ourselves off from the world we may not only hurt others but we will definately hurt ourselves the most

There was a time when this country tried not to interfere in the affairs of other countries. Despite that attitude, Europe still managed to drag us into two World Wars. You could try, but I doubt that the rest of the World would let you succeed in your endeavor.

Why don't you you bottom feeders (you know who you are... go make a donation to the ACLU so they can take away more of citizens rights and protect the illegals... who by the way...not all but some want to overthrow this so giving government)

I'm about ready for us to do just that...no more foreign aid until our own problems are solved here. We'll try and be a good neighbor...we'll buy your goods, and sell you ours...but also (like a good neighbor) we'll leave you the hell alone to solve your own problems, and not expect you to help us solve ours.

In many ways I would have to say YES!! We need to take care of our own more and the world less. We are not the world's Police force.

Well consider how much the united states is really helping people right now! Are we really helping people in Iraq? What about Africa? If we really wanted to make a differance we would spend our money a little more wisely and our economy might be a little better!
