In general, multiport injection usually fires at least two of the injectors at once, reguardless of the camshaft position. Sequential injection fires each individual injector at the exact proper time, making it more efficient.

They are generally interchangeable terms. One injector per cylinder. Some multi-port injection systems do not time the injector exactly with the intake valve opening; old VWs were that way -- all injectors fired at the same time and the fuel sat in a puddle on the intake valve until it opened. Sequential fuel injection is timed to fire the injector as the intake valve opens which is supposed to give better atomization of the fuel.
