You can make gift baskets from the dollar store. They usually have things like lotions, pens. Well just basically anything. You could even by some packs of cookie mix, sprinkles, and icing and some sandwhich bags. Put a little of each in bags and put into jars and give to your family and friends to bake and decorate their own cookies. That would be a great idea. Hope this helps. Good luck and Merry Christmas.

Glass mosaic picture frame. Get a 4x6 frame at Ikea (3 for $3). Purchase a bag of 1"x"1" glass tile from an art supply store (or get a square foot in different colors from Home Depot/EXPO), some school glue, and a bag of grout from a hardware store ($2). Wrap tile in towel and break with a hammer. Glue pieces to picture frame and let dry for six hours. Then, mix grout. Using a dish sponge and/or fingers, work grout into grooves between tile pieces and let dry for a day. Wet sponge and wipe off excess grout, till tiles shine through.

Three beautiful, thoughtful gifts for less than $10 total cost. Google mosaic for more detailed directions.

Make candy or cookies or even homemade bread- that always goes over great. I have also made magnets from felt, given coupons for a car washing and detailing, housework, babysitting and mending. I have gone to the library and checked out The Tightwad Gazette and gotten many good ideas from that book. It is worth the read anyway.

Any easy one is amaryllis bulbs. You can buy them cheap at the Christmas Tree shops or Ocean State Job Lot (I'm from CT - you might not have those stores near you) Any how, they are like 2.50 each. Then go to a craft store and buy terra cotta pots for 50 cents and some moss - a big bag is like $5. Then you need a little dirt. Wrap a big bow around the pot and there you have it. I'm giving them to all of my office friends.

When my husband and I first got married and had our daughter, money was extremely tight...we survived on mac-n-cheese and hamburger helper, egg sandwiches and Peanut butter and Jelly. One Chrstmas, I had one of my favorite pictures blown up and reproduced (5x7 to most and parents/grandparents an 8x10) and framed it in a decent yet cheap frame. It was probably one of the most cherished gifts people received from us. Your talking maybe $5 a person for the gift. Depending on how nice a frame you want to get.
