I have a friend who is not married and she adopted a beautiful little boy a few years back. She has never been married and was not even in a relationship. Besides let me ask you this if people say you must be MARRIED to adopt then how are same sex couples {which can not legally marry in the US} adopting children. As long as your environment is stable I say you check into it.

I surmise that you live in the United States.
In some states, yes, a single person may adopt, assuming that all other requirements (stability, health, etc.) are met. In other states, though, singles may not adopt. A good first step might be to check with your county's social services to inquire about laws in your state.
Even if a single isn't able to adopt, plenty of children need good role models and can be served through charities and social service organizations, such as Big Brothers/Big Sisters.

If adoption is open to gay couples that are not legally married, I don't know why a single person cannot adop. Talk to someone in the adoption area and find out what are your options. Good luck.

No, in most places, you only need to be able to show that you can provide a loving, supportive home for the child, where all of their needs will be met. If you are not married, this should have no relevancy in your application to adopt.

It is possible. However, if we are talking about adoption of an infant, your wait will be much longer because you are single. If you are serious, consider adopting an older child who needs a loving home. It is much easier and their need is so much greater.

The first response is not correct. I personally know someone who adopted two children and she is single, and no she doesn't make a lot of money... not even middle class.
