i think us Americans are Prudes compared 2 most of Europe i am American Stationed in Germany and see that americans ***** about stuff way 2 much in regards 2 Language and Sex on Tv and Christmas Trees in Public Places i mean WTF

Different culture dude. We aren't europe and that is the most obvious difference when you go over there. Everything is just a little bit different so why shouldn't attitudes about some things be different too? By you asking this question it shows that you really haven't taken the full grasp of living in a different continent.

It is because of the morals the country was founded on. Many people came to the US in order to be religiously and morally conservative without being persecuted. The US is only a couple hundred years away from it's "prude" start. Perhaps we will evolve to be as open as Europe someday. (I agree, Europe is way cooler.)

Historical I suppose. The early (English) settlers were religious non-conformists, people not reknown for knowing how to throw a good party.

The Puritains settled in America hundreds of years ago, and their influence remains until this day. Europeans don't have puritains--they all came here!
