Has anyone got a really good method of revising? I have a social care law exam next week and my head is spinning. I'm sure its not sinking in!!

Hi

I always found those index card boxes useful. Buy a medium sized box with cards and dividers.

Now go through your text book and write a consise (less wordy) version of each section on A4 paper. Once you have done a chunk, make an even more consise version on an index card - one card per topic, using red pen to write key words.

Just this exercise will in itself make a lot of the stuff stick, but you will then have neat and simple prompt cards to get people to test you with. Also, testing other people can make a lot stick.

Remember it is not the hours you put in, but the
quality of the time. Have a break every 45 minutes for 15 minutes and don't fall into the trap of just rereading paragraphs - your only kidding yourself.

Best of luck x

I find reading the notes useful and then copying down what i have just read word to word without looking at the notes. I do this a paragraph at a time and keeping adding a paragraph so that what i have to write down gets longer. That way you know that you know and can see what you don't know. This has always worked for me in the past and i get nearly full marks in my exams.

Good luck

English from England calls it "Revising". In America, reivising is re-writing what is written for grammar and punctuation errors.

American English calls it "Cramming" or "Prepping"

Study and make notes about the notes you made before.

When I was in college, I would go over all the homework. I would make sure that I knew the answers to all the questions/problems on the homework.
