People have a fear of what's different and unknown. One of the biggest traits in humans is the need to fit in and be accepted as part of a group. When people are faced with something or someone that doesn't fit in their worldview, oftentimes they react with fear or anger. Also, skin color is the easiest way to separate people into different groups. You may not be able to tell from looking at someone what their interests or education level may be, but you can tell if they belong to a different racial group than yourself. I think from there it evolved into a superiority issue, where people from one race had better resources in general than another and used that as an excuse to judge and oppress others. It's unfortunate that even in this day and age, we still have so many people hung up on skin color and not enough people paying attention to the real problems like poverty, hunger, and disease, which are color-blind.

Because people are relational, yet inherently evil. Weird, huh? We want to feel safe (relate to others like ourselves) and at the same time better than someone else. I agree also with the one person's assertion that it is also tied to culture. Isn't it true that women who are most respected in the corporate world act just like the rest of the "good old boys"?
We're all descended from Adam and Eve, and later Noah and his wife. In the future, if we last, the gene pool will be so homogenous that the races will no longer be distinct. Then we'll find something else to kill people over.

Th color of a person skin is hated because in some way a person feel that their skin tone is better than the other person's. People are hated because of the skin color because they are associated and generalized with negatives that also come with there skin tones.

Because race is more than that. It is the socialology of the people and thier values and beliefs. Races are different because they have been separated for millenia that changed thier genes and the color of thier skin. What do you think that did to each groups social mores, society, and language? Totally different cultures will cause problems when you throw them in together and stir them up in the pot.

Because they have the spirit of prejudice. They were either brought up that way when they were younger, and that's all they basically knew. So if they did not change somehow, as they were growing up, that hate that was birthed in them, just stayed inside, and kept growing and growing. So that's what I think.

Human beings are tribal and clannish by nature. It is a trait we inherited from our primate ancestors. Skin color is just one of the ways people use to define "outsiders".

Because many people are only 'skin deep'.
What I find interesting is the people who DENY their skin color--the white people who try to get tanned and the tanned people who claim to be white.....
