absolutly you can i do it all the time.
if your laptop has the built in wireless, and a built in ethernet port, (looks like a phone plug only bigger) you are in business. You need to go to a computer or office store, walmart and target doesn't carry them but best buy or staples does, and find the network cables. you need a cat 5 CROSSLINK cable. make sure it says crosslink, a standard won't work. what a crosslink cable does is let you connect two machines without a router. take it home, plug one end into your laptop, the other into your ps2. next, go to your laptop, click on start, control panel, network and intenet connections, network connections then right click on your wi-fi connection. click on the advanced tab and turn on internet connection sharing. click ok and seconds later your ps2 will be on the internet.

Unfortunately, this more than likely won't work. I'd suggesting either moving your ps2 closer to the router, or buying a wireless card for your PS2. Check out these sites for more information.
