ring tone is the music with out the words mono tone means one sound polytone means many sounds and trutone is how it really sound in real life.

basically monotone, polytone and truetones are typs of ringtones. Monotones are from one source only lets say a series of notes and its sounds. Polytone simulates real music by incorporating other elements in the tone such as simulated drums and bass guitars. Trutone is the type of ringtone which is an exact replicate of the real thing.

Monotone is one note. let's say 1 long beep. polytone is 1 long beep with 2 or more sounds in it playing at the same time. Hence the prefix "poly" and "mono". Trutones are actually real songs played on cell phones that sound like original artists.
there can be songs that are monotone. this means it is only playing one note at a time. sorta like those annoying santa's that play jingle bells.
Ringtones are just the different rings on a phone you can choose from

Your ringtone is the sound that happens when someone calls your cell. It is basically the category name for monotone, polytone, trutone.
Monotoe is the least qulaity of the 3, and theres not many phones that use it anymore. Its just beeps at different notes.
Polytone is a little more advanced, using different sounds
Trutones are like real music clips, rather than beeps and noises.

They are all ringtones. polyphonic is just your basic tones, like the midi player on your computer, very ugly sounds. Trutone is the actual music with voice and music like from a cd or radio. Depending on your type of phone depends on whether or not you can get the good ringtones or the bad ones.
