Educate you so that you don't have the education and intelligence of a 12 year old your entire life. It's difficult to find a good paying job without a college degree much less with an 8th grade education.

Get you started on learning. Believe it or not, the stuff they teach there can actually be helpful.

Math. Did you know that no matter what job you eventually take, you will need to know some math? Also, sometimes the more math you know, the more money you can make. Not too many millionaires out there who do not have good math skills. I will wager that there are no billionaires out there without good math skills.

Science. Once again, good stuff. Comes in handy. You can use it in all sorts of situations. Learn how the world works and you get an idea of how to work with the world. Some of the world's better paying jobs require a very solid education in science.

History. All of todays events stem from history. All of todays events will be tomorrow's history. If you learn a bit about the past then you can get an understanding of how we got to where we are. Also, a bit of knowledge in history can help you prevent repeating mistakes in the future. Learning from the mistakes of others is some of the most painless learning there is.

English. If you cannot read or write then your job potential is very limited. Your writing abilities alone will open doors that are usually shut tight. Reading certain "boring" stories will give you different perspectives on life and also bring about a bit of wisdom. You never know what gems you can find in a book. Sometimes a fortune can be built based on one sentance of one paragraph in a book. You just have to read the book to find it.

Social studies. How can you expect to succeed in the world if you do not know anything about it? There are thousands of different cultures out there. Different languages, different dialects, different beliefs, different ideas. Trust me. No matter how much they teach you in social studies, it is not enough.

Government. Do you know what your rights are? Do you know how to influence new laws or how to fight unjust laws? The government class gives you this information. Believe it or not, this is a very important class.

Computer and technology. The world is ran by technology. The more you understand it then the more it becomes your tool. All major professions use computers. Also, there are specialized tools to each area of work that technology can provide. Start learning about computers as soon as possible.

These are just a few things you can gain from high school or any school for that matter. You never know how something you learn may be used one day. Sometimes just the act of learning can get your brain geared up to learn better. If you learn about Shakespear and get nothing from it, your brain is organized a little better and you can pick up the fluid dynamics class in college a bit better which gets you that job as a aeronautical engineer later in life.

Never stop learning.

High school gives you the basic skills to be a good citizen and a productive worker. You should leave high school with a working knowledge of English Grammar, Math, Social Science and Science. If you go on to college this knowledge forms the platform for your future learning. In a society in which most people will retrain for new professions 3 -5 times in thier lives, having this basic knowledge is going to be key to success.

High school broadens our education, like when you were in grammar school you were taught the country was founded in 1776. But in high school you are going to learn more about how, why and who was involved. English grammar expands your vocabulary and you get to read novels instead of picture books.
Math takes you from basics to applied math and beyond if you want to go to college.
College is just for a few people who want to be doctors or teachers,or managers, most of us end up working for living or going to technical school and get into computer learning.
A lot of people won't hire you without the high school diploma, the GED is okay but its never going to say you had enough stamina to deal with 4 years of learning.

give you a high school diploma.
most college's need you to pass high school in order to get into that school.
this will give you a great paying job, getcha that dream house you always wanted, and that girl you always dream about.

if not, well enjoy working at a burger king flipping burgers.
(no offense if you or anybody already do, but to me that get's people no where in life if they don't make it thru high school or college.)

but hey, on the bright side, some people may get lucky...My boyfriend passed high school but didn't go to college and he works at State Farm in the process of becoming a full time employee. We're already thinking about marriage and a house (because I'm working on my nursing major).

all i can say is: where ever your brain takes ya....good luck.

Even if you don't go to college, picture yourself as a prospective employer. Who are you most likely to hire, the guy who has his diploma and is working to improve himself and/or support a family, or the guy who as already demonstrated that he doesn't even have the drive to obtain even the most basic of educational credentials.

If you graduate, it will help you get a job. Of course if you want a good paying job, you will also need college or technical school.

Give you an education, or increase your knowledge of the promulgation of esoteric cogitation along with the articulation of superficial sentimentality.
