I have 7 employees who I am planning to buy Christmas gifts for. All are male, tech-savvy web developers and/or systems people ranging from their mid 20s to early 30s. I would like to spend about $50. I want something cool and unique. Baking cookies is out of the question.

I recommend a 50 % fun, 50% business approach
For example, if they deal with people from other companies get them a nice leather business card holder (about $20) and some cartoon item like maybe a SpongeBob toaster. A mix of work & fun.
At $50 I would avoid a tech pick because most of us are very picky and only 1 or 2 items in a 100 item batch is acceptable to us. (or maybe it is different with guys)
OR a gift card for Best Buy ?

I would get gift cards, just make sure they hold their value. Check around at stores in your area techy's like to shop. That would be the coolest gift because it gives them choices. It is very hard to shop for adults. I know I have adult children and for me I know they like the gift cards or cash best. Same for teachers gifts. Do not forget to get or make nice cards and write a personal note in each. Happy Holidays!
