It is definitely possible!
I would recommend taking a Natural Family Planning course to learn better how to interpret your fertility signs. The Couple to Couple League have an excellent home study course that I took, they also have NFP experts who you can contact with any questions of queries. LIFE UK also runs a fertility programme to help coules who are having problems conceiving.
Just to confirm what the 'obvious signs' are:
1. Take your temp. every morning when you wake up. It will rise slightly when you ovulate (about 14 days before your next period) and will stay higher until your next period. Once released your egg remians viable for fertilisation for just 12-24 hours.
2. Keep an eye on your mucus. It will become stretchy like egg white as you approach ovulation. Sperm can surivie for up to 5 days in this most fertile mucus.
You can also check your cervix. It becomes higher and softer as you ovulate.

ask you doctor to test you for pcos this is a condition were your eggs turn to cysts and attatch to you ovaries this may be causing you to not ovulate giving you irregular periods. There is medication that can treat this and help you ovulate. Best of luck x

It might be hard to find out for sure when you are ovulating when you have such periods, but yes it is possible to get pregnant. Anyway, you can see a doctor to regulate your period for you.
Good luck.

You ovulate about a week before you period, then. the egg breaks if not fertilised = Period.
I guess if you are irregular, it would be hard to tell when are are ovulating.
Good luck
