My boyfriend and I have two cats, I feel that they should stay out side....and never let them inside. Because they poop and pee on the floor, they climb on everything and knock stuff over and break things that are expensive (i think they have a magnet for the expencive stuff) And I am always the one that cleans up after them never my boyfriend. I keep telling him to stop letting them in the house. I have told him and told him.....but he keeps letting them in.......WHY WON'T HE LISTEN TO ME??? and how do I get him too? He says that he will only let them in for a few minutes, and that he will put them back outside before he goes to bed but every morning I wake up the cats are still in the house and I have to chase them around the house and put them out again...because he didn't. It makes me so mad but I can't seem to get through to him to stop letting them in the house.....HELP!!!

WHY DON'T YOU TWO JUST SIT DOWN AND DISCUSS THAT ONCE AND FOR ALL? FOR SOME PEOPLE HERE IT MAY SEEM LIKE A SMALL PROBLEM BUT I KNOW HOW AGGRAVATING IT COULD GET. TELL HIME THAT YOU DON'T LIKE TO CLEAN AFTER THOSE"FEW MINUTES" LIKE HE CALLS THEM. OFFER HIM TO CLEAN THE MESS HIMSELF IF HE INSIST ON HAVING THE CATS INSIDE. ALSO TRY TO EXPLAIN TO HIM THAT IF HE THINKS CLEANING OF CAT'S POO IS NOT SUCH A BIG DEAL- YES, HE THINKS LIKE THAT COS HE IS NOT THE ONE DOING IT. THE THINGS THAT THE CATS BREAK- EVEN IF THEY ARE NOT EXPENSIVE, THE FACT ITSELF THAT YOU HAVE THEM IN THE HOUSE, MEAN THAT YOU LIKE THOSE ITEMS AND YOU DEFINITELY DIDN'T PUT THEM THERE SO SOME STUPID CATS CAN BREAK THEM. I THINK THAT IF YOU MAKE HIM CLEAN ONCE, HE WILL SEE HOW UNPLEASANT THAT IS AND HOW THE SMELL OF CATS' PISS IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO DISAPPEAR!

I don't mean to be offensive, if I am, my apologies. Having a cat, two for that matter is a big responsibility and I believe that the reason you're stressing at this time is that perhaps you are looking for the wrong solution. A cat's place is not outside, it is not a dog, it is an independent animal who will eventually run away if you put it outside every night because they will feel neglected. Maybe its a question of habbit or perhaps your boyfriend has taken that in consideration.

Plus, the reason why they do their business in the house is because they don't have a litterbox, cats are very clean animals if you give them the opportunity to be clean and that you teach them how to do so.

If the source of the problem is that you don't want them in the house because they poop and pee in your house than the litterbox would be your answer, if not, well, then I'd say you have some issues to solve. Relationships are about compromise, it up to you to find a solution that will suit you both.

Well I was tempted to just have a smart A$S answer and just say "what", but I decided against it, and to go with a serious one, despite the inherent sexism in your question. Men & women communicate differently. I know everyone is different, everyone is equal, ya, ya ya. At the end of the day, men tend to behave certain ways and communicate in certain ways and those things are often different than how women do it. Most guys are "fixers". You talk about a problem, and we immediately go into fix it mode, thinking of how to solve the problem. Most women, on the other hand, just like to vent to their significant other. Often times, having gotten it off their chest, it is solved for them. Unfortunately when we go into fix it mode, we are focusing more on how to fix your problem than what you are continuing to say. We think we are helping you, when in fact you just wanted our undivided attention for 5 minutes. What you should do if you have this situation is preface your talk by saying something like " Honey I need to vent to you for a few minutes. It's not a big deal, and I don't need you to do anything, I just want you to listen". If you're with a mature guy, that'll do the trick. Beyond that all I can say is don't bombard your guy when he first comes home from work. I like to chill for 10 minutes when I first get home, and I don't want to be bombarded with the days problems immediately in the door.

lol go figure the men would be rude about this. I say get rid of the damn cats its that simple. I hate cats when my now husband and I were dating and I moved into his house he had 2 which by the way are GONE now for the exact reasons you listed. If you are going to have an animal they shouldn't be forced to stay outside all the time regardless of the weather conditions find them a new home and end this little bickering you have going on that simple.

Your problem is bigger than its seem too. From your description,it is evident that your bf is arrogant(sorry to be rude but that's the truth). To tackle with such people is really difficult.Insist to him that if he is going to let in the cats then u are not going to clean the pee.Do the same for 3-4 days and then see what happens.I he still do that, then I think your bf needs pshycatrist.
BEST OF LUCK.

I agree with d_leoncavallo...why would anyone keep their cats outside in the first place? They're at risk for being hit by a car, and in some places (more rural areas) there could be predators like coyotes.

Men are men-they just don't listen and the more you talk the less they hear. If you have asked him repeatedly and he has not responded he probably never will.
