I don't trust the media, I think they are manipulated by their govenrnments. So when I read so called facts from the media I always have some doubt in my mind. What about you?

The press is dominated by the press barons (with a few honourable exceptions). And they only have the information they are given from other sources (like the government).

And the internet is full of nutters with their own agendas and conspiracy theories.

Very often the real facts about a situation only come out many years later.

I trust no one!

Take everything you read or hear, from any source, with a grain of salt. After all, there are plenty of times when a newspaper has to publish and apology or just a correction in the next issue stating that the 'facts' were wrong. Even when someone excitedly tells you something that happened in their day, you can bet that someone else is telling their friends another version of the exact same event but with minor differences, since interactions are based on your own perspective. Even on the internet some websites "prove" things like global warming exists and other sites "prove" that it's unlikely and the temperature has only been raised by 0.6% rather than what other people are claiming.

No, no, no, absolutely not. Journalists are reknowned for being as honest as they day is long.

I actually put a question on here once, in the "Media and Journalism" section. JOURNALISTS, WOULD YOU LET TRUTH GET IN THE WAY OF A GOOD STORY?

Not one reply, except somebody saying "They won't answer, must be embarassed"

absolutely not! the press and the media tell the story the way they want it reported vs. the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

It is not their facts I question , rather it is what is not said.

The "free" press is only as free as its bank balance and like every good business it has to be pragmatic sometimes.

Most journalists are intrinsically honest.(Have a couple in the family).

But in the end it is up to each individual to make their own truths.

There's a phrase:

There are lies, damn lies and statistics.

It's totally true, statistics are fact, they're not manipulated or contortioned. If 1 man is dead, thats a fact, it's how he dies that open to intepretation.

totally agree with you. i suspect the papers do try to manipulate peoples thoughts. i always keep an open mind, then use the paper to line my cat tray with.

No I expect them to give me facts which I then discern as to the truth.
