Limewire has a lot of viruses and if you download stuff from there make sure you have an upto date anti-virus software, I prefer using http://www.areslite.com .Its more safe.

Instead of using the limewire client, use Cabos. Limewire (the program) has spyware built in as part of the program, but Cabos does not. Cabos uses the limewire network, so the search results are exactly the same.

Download Cabos here:

If you're going to use limewire/cabos, make sure to have a good antispyware program installed, like spybot or adaware, and an updated anti virus program like Avast.

All these programs are free.

Avast:

Spybot

Adaware
http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10399602.html?tag=lst-0-1

Finally, never download programs from Limewire/Cabos. Movies now have spyware attached to them as well, so use caution there too.

Make sure you have a good security package, and a good lawyer. Sites like that are targeted by the music biz... they can sue you for downloading stuff on those sites if they catch you... and they will catch you eventually. You've heard about the lawsuits and the $10,000 fines that go with illegal downloading.

Those sites are virus-laden anyway. Have extra $ on hand to buy a new computer.

It is pretty safe. I hear that it gives you viruses but ive never gotten one. anyways if there were to be a problem with it the system would let you know. ive benn using it for a couple of years with no problems whatsoever. some songs might take a little bit but ost dont take to long to download plus it has a huge variety of songs. when you enter a song it comes up with a list of choices and you choose the one you want plus it lets you listen to the song before you download it. good luck. :)

I have heard that it can transfer viruses but to be honest I don't actually know anyone this has happened to, and I've never had any problems with it. Make sure you have an anti virus installed and you should be ok, good luck and happy downloading :-)

Mostly, it is pretty safe. It always tells me when a file is corrupted and gives you the choice of continue downloading or to cancel. I have been able to download music, music videos, movies and books. So I think it is safe.
