Yes, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, when one imitates another they are saying i wish to be you because you possess qualities i wish to have, so i will settle with just imitating them. AND NO my chemical romance is not ripping off green day. Frank Iero learned how to play guitar from watching the lead singer but they are imitating them, they are doing their own thing, just sometimes, influenced by them, not imitating. i heart my chemcial romance.

No to the first question. Im a fan of both MCR and Greenday and i think MCR have developed their own sound even though i know most will not agree. You have to listen to all three albums then decide.
Yes to the 2nd
And to be honest most bands are gonna sound the same now as finding a new sounds is becoming more difficult after years of music!!

MCR is not a ripoff of Green Day. Although Green Day did take them under their wing in the beginning. The only thing I see similar is that they are both considered rock.
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Makes ya feel loved and appreciated. :)

who nowadays sounds totally unique, not many bands i would say.lets face it most bands have a sound similar to some
other band.A lot of bands are influenced by others.its not
so much a rip off as a fact of life.green day sound like
no use for a name and snuff and screeching weasel
and nofx and pennywise.when green day were good,
and that was a long time ago(American idiot, shite)
they were still not original, its the genre of music
that puts them together with similar sounding bands
all music is taken from other peoples ideas then
expanded.

No, they are not a rip off of Green Day - there are similarities, but I think that MCR are just doing what feels right for them.

Nope, they're a rip-off of the Misfits but Gerard is no Glenn.
I pick Misfit rip-off because they skirt the pop-goth/pop-punk line that The Misfits created and plus a lot of their imagery from the Black Parade is reminiscent of old school Misfits.
And when it's this much of a rip-off it's not flattering anybody.

in style, but not in songwriting. i'm not a real big fan of punk and emo, because none of it is indestinguishable, but my chemical romance definitely has a speed metal/power ballad/punk thing goin on that is original and distinct, and i have to say i am a my chemical romance fan. as for green day...i prefer their older stuff. but i do have to give green day credit for their ability to evolve, i guess you could say, as a band. you can literally hear their writing and musical talent progress from record to record.

mocking someone and imitating them ought to per chance be similar in which you're doing the similar component that somebody else is doing, yet once you mock someone it quite is with the reason of insulting someone or doing them harm.
