This is not a simple yes or no question. Albert Pujols is certainly an amazing player. But to try and project if he will become the greatest player ever is something that only time will tell. However, my personal opinion is that he may end up being the greatest hitter to ever play the game, but not the greatest overall player. I don't think that can ever be taken away from Babe Ruth. Not only was he a great hitter, he was no slouch on the mound either. If Pujols decides to start pitching, then maybe he has a shot at being the greatest ever. But I don't think anybody sees that happening. So the best he can really hope for is the best hitter. Either way, he is well on his way to Cooperstown.

If he can stay healthy for his entire career he will have an amazing shot at being the best player of all time. It has happened many times that players get injured when they were supposed to have a great career. Albert Pujols has a great shot a beating Barry Bonds!

He is great player, but hearing the name Albert Pujols, is not like hearing Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, or Barry Bonds. He he has a shot of being considered one of the best players, but there is no way he will be the best player ever. If he has any chance, he must pass all of Barry Bonds's stats, including stolen bases.

Until someone truly revolutionizes the game of baseball like Babe Ruth did, and has an impact on the game that he did, I can't imagine there will be a guy who can be considered a better player.

He transcended the sport.

I don't see Albert Pujols, regardless of his stats, doing that.

I think if he stays healthy and plays 10 more years he will be ONE of the greatest players in my lifetime. But the greatest player ever? Those are mighty big shoes to fill.

It's very possible, he has been able to remain consistent thus far and I don't see why that would change unless something completely unexpected were to occur. I hope he does become the best player ever, he's a good guy and he's good for baseball.

the most important part of your question is HEALTHY. I believe this same question was brought up several years back with a young man by the name of Griffey jr. so if he stays healthy i would say he'll be up there with the best hitters of all time. but not the best player of all time.

Let's see in 10 years. Right now, he's a fine player but his mouth is getting him in trouble. He's believing his own press. His crack about Glavine in the first Mets Cards playoff game was bush league and whining about getting second in the MVP showed zero class.

Not unless his life time batting average jumps to .344 while hitting 714 home runs and then wins 92 games as a pitcher. I think Babe Ruth legacy is safe.
