I suppose it is in our nature to be, but most of us are only rational when it comes to other people and their situations, very rarely do we look at ourselves with rational thought

No I don't think that we are rational beings. I agree with part of your blurb about not caring about others and whatnot, to an extent. Obviously not all people are uncaring, vain, or overly materialistic. But there is a large majority of people today that feel they need to be the way Hollywood, and TV projects the "perfect" family, person, whatever. I feel bad for teenagers "now-a-days", they have no real role models, or good influences to help them along in some of the most influential and developmental years of their lives. Look at who they have to mimic?! Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson???!!! These are people who barely made it out of High School, and who's aspirations are to spread it for Playboy! Is it any wonder people coming into the world today are so messed up and have such bizarre and whacked out priorities? The things that make people so uncaring, vain, or materialistic are the things we'll never be able to get rid of because people are incapable of making that rational decision to ignore it, or understand it for what it really is and is meant to be.

I am very rational and I care deeply about others. I look forward to better times not just for me, not at all. It is for people in general.. My hope and faith is what burns bright. Daily monotonous things can weigh us all down. To this point in my life I have kept a pretty good balance on materialistic things and spent most of my time learning what real love is, and I learn something new every day. Anyone who searches deep into their soul knows exactly what I am trying to say. I could care less about keeping up with the Joneses, I just have a desire for the world to know real love. ⥠Though at times I am guilty of abusing my own reflection it is never intentional. Best wishes to you. â¥

Not really.
Look at the importance people place on religion when science has emerged time and time again with proof that suggests that a God doesn't exist. People speak in toungues, engage in cult-like activities, and base their whole live on a feeling they get from self-induced hysteria.
Self-delusion is a *****.

I don't think that anybody is completely rational. I think we may have some rational moments, but most of the time people are just running on instinct.

personal introspection is very important for your own mental health. Society tends to "be fast" a little too fast to care, we are so preoccupied with ourselves, if we took a second to look around us and take in whats going on, maybe we can help inmprove this problems status from jerks, to nice people.

i dont know if we are at base nature or whatever, but due to created needs in marketing and advertising, gambling, drug use, and other dopamine producing activities/things, we are getting less and less rational and more irrational and "in the spur of the moment" as a majority

Yes and no. I'd say that most of us fall in the median of rationality and emotionality.
