Let's clarify- I have always worked and will always work- i never take time off unless needed, that is why i feel bad for being at home right now....

He is asleep.. i may just go grab a few minutes of a nap in. He has been sick for about a week so i think it is all just catching up to him.

thanks to all the nice answers....

and yes Motherhood is a choice- and a dang good one too!

Take a day to yourself. I really think it is sad (myself included) that we feel so guilty for taking some time for ourselves these day. The expectations of some companies is down right crazy.

grab some zee's while you can. later, make a fun lunch for you and your child. pop in a good video and grab a blankie for you and your baby and nestle up on the bed or couch with fruit juice and snacks and enjoy cuddling with your child. make this mommy and sick child time, something extra special. close the blinds and turn on tv or soft music and hold your child and you can bring out the crayons, small toys, books, or anything and just enjoy your day off from work and later, shower and get in the kitchen to prepare your dinner or order something to be delivered.
just hold your sick toddler and tell GOD thank you for your treasure. you are lucky to be a mom with your lil own angel, here on earth. our children are a blessing to us. hope you get some sleep and your baby feels better. you do have tylenol right?
enjoy your day off. don't feel bad about being home. your child needs you. have a blessed day!

I hope your son is not seriously ill....if so, I hope he's feeling better....you owe it to your son to look after him AND yourself...that includes getting enough sleep to be able to look after him properly....never feel bad about having to stay home with your child...if your employer is understanding, then get some rest, do some housework that you might be falling behind on, then return to work when you feel that your son can safely return to school.
Good Luck and enjoy your time with your son!!

First make sure you've called work and said "I'm not coming in today. F*ck off." That should relieve you of work-related duty's for a while. Now hang out with your kid and read a book or watch a cartoon or pass-out if your both really tired. If you go too work tired you might cause a problem. Go tomorrow when you're rested.

Play with your boy cuz he got you a day off! Do something you have been putting off. For me that would be starting my Christmas cards and scrubbing the kitchen floor. Hope your boy feels better!n Don't feel guilty, enjoy the day!

If this isn't a habitual thing, which you said it isn't, then just enjoy the time. Get back after it tomorrow. It becomes a problem when it becomes a common thing.

I think you need some sleep yourself! Go back to bed and relax - you deserve it. Taking care of toddler is exhausting - especially when they haven't slept.

Good luck!

Hmmm I own my own business and if this happened during a busy time like the holidays Id be tempted to fire you for not showing up for work.
Last time I checked motherhood was a choice not a handicap.
