Pros and cons please. And by the way, who ever got the idea of using a chair with electric charges to execute people?

Is it really morally correct for people to end their lives this way (regardless of the sins they committed) ?

"Make the punishment fit the crime"

If the criminal is convicted on solid evidence of murder or similar heinous activity, I see no reason why he cannot be fried to death by electric current or some other means to induce death.

The electric chair has been around for years, but, it was deemed too cruel by some people and it was taken out of service here in Florida. It was replaced by death by injection and now that is being challenged in Federal court as being cruel and unusual punishment. So, do I think that we should execute those who deserve it? Yes, but, not by electric chairs or injections or anything else like that. I have 2 ideas that I think will help reduce the crime rate. 1) give the accused and convicted individual to the family members of the victim and let them take care of it anyway they want. 2) Execute the convicted EXACTLY the same way he killed his victim. Enjoy.

Revenge is mine sayeth the Lord.

I think the electric chair was invented to rule out the torture method that was used when someone was sentenced to death eons ago. Its been going on for so long now we just accept it. But in the end only one person can judge.
If you had the choice would it be electrocution or getting your guts/ intestines ripped out of your body while your still alive? So criminals these days have it easy they should thank the person who changed the rules.

I believe in the electric chair as the best! Why does anyone feel that just putting someone to sleep that has committed such bad crimes fair to the victim or the families of the victim of violence? I feel they deserve to suffer just like their victims! I can honestly say if someone murdered one of my family members I would want to through the switch personally!

The electric chair was actually "perfected" by Thomas Edison to show how dangerous AC current was. He was trying to promote DC power supplies for domestic use.

They end up dead, don't they?

The Electric Chair is fine. Death is Death. How you executie them really shouldn't matter as long as it gets the job done.

The Chair was invited by Thomas Edison.

I didn't think the electric chair was still being used...I thought it was just lethal injection being used now.

i'm not a fan of the chair..it's too hollywood horror movie. I'm not usually an eye for an eye...but in the case of a serial killer/brutal BRUTAL murderer, I may feel differently....it all depends on the circumstance!

yeah I think if you committ the crime you should be given the penalty allowed by law. Even if it is the needle or electric chair. I think they should be put on pay per view.
