anyone else think that john mayer could be next generation clapton? have you heard him play the blues? he can tear up a guitar, maybe not slowhand style, but what do you think?

slowhand: clapton's nickname, he's so fast it doesn't even look like he's moving his hand. how can you play guitar for forty years and not know about slowhand?
tear up a guitar: play the sh!t out of it.

I think NO ONE can be like Clapton, BUT, John Mayer is as close as anyone could possibly get. He can really shred the neck of a guitar and has an awesome voice to back it up. I think he is the new face of contemporary blues and rock n roll. Clapton and Mayer are a good comparison.

The guy is awesome and I will be seeing him this January in Baton Rouge.. *screams* Ok, now back to the question... I definitely think that he is the next Erica Clapton. His voice is like no other and he really can play the hell out of the guitar. John Mayer...*sigh*

John is a great artist. I've played guitar for for over 40 years and what in the hell is slowhand style? What in the hell is "tear up a guitar"????

i love him...his voice! i heard the song on the radio and thought it was an old back in the day song...i also thought he was black becuz of the way he sounded but then i seen the video and i fell in love with him since i seen him perform on the 101...

Sure, he is an AWESOME guitar player!!! His music is very cool!! I like it. He has a good clean voice and his guitars ROCK!!!
