I had trouble sleeping with my first pregnancy, I put pillows under my back so that my upper body was elevated! and also put a pillow under my knees! this helped me a lot! I am pregnant again (14 weeks) and i am doing that again it really helps! (it takes longer to get around for bed though)
Good luck Hopefully you'll get a good nights sleep tonight!!!

I have had insomnia a few times myself, and know just how agravating it is.
Go to the health food store and buy Melatonin, 2 mg. It is a natural occuring hormone, secreted by the Pineal gland. It is known to promote sleep in insomniacs, those suffering from jetlag, and those whose internal clock has been interrupted. It is also known to promote bone cells needed to fight Osteoporosis, and stimulate the immune system.
I have taken this in the past, and it works great. If you keep the dosage down to 1 or 2 mg. you will wake up refreshed, and feeling great from a good nights sleep. I once bought 3 mg. but found it to be too much, and woke up with a sleep hangover.
Once you have adequate levels of Melatonin in your system, you will find you no longer need it. This took me about 1 to 2 weeks.
Melatonin has no known negative affects, unlike Tylenol, and I would feel safe taking it, were I pregnant.
For your own peace of mind, I suggest you check out the info on the Internet, and purchase the Melatonin at a health food store, where the quality will not be in question.
P.S. While you can't put a price on a good nights sleep, the cost of Melatonin is less than $5.00 for 100 tablets.
Congratulations on your baby, and Good Night.

I am 10 weeks and some nights I have trouble sleeping as well. The best best advice is not to stay up late late. As soon as I get the least bit tired I go ahead and go lay down. If I stay up and just finish watching this show or doing something I'm doing I find I get exhausted and then really can't get to sleep. It's weird. Too sleepy = no sleep.
The second trick I have is pillows. Pillows everywhere!! I sleep with a body pillow next to me and have it tucked under my legs. If I lay on my back I hold a regular pillow on my stomach/chest.
It seems weird to me but it really does help make me comfortable!
Good luck and Sleep tight! :)

I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL!!! I am 38 weeks now and if it was not for me asking my doctor what to do I would have never got any rest back then. Do not take a warm bath until you ask your doctor. I was told no baths until the 3rd tri. My doctor did tell me I can take 1 only 1 Tylenol PM a night. Call you doctor and let him or her know that you can not sleep and see what they say. I have one of the best doctors in the state. I am also a HIGH RISK so if it was not safe my doctor would have never told me to do it. The bad thing with a warm bath I was told it does something to your cervix. Good Luck and I hope this helps

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.

I had this problem also. Nothing really works...I would take a warm bath before bed, and drink a cup of warm non-caf tea. That relaxes you a bit. I know it is hard, hopefully it will get better in the 2nd. trimester for you. Good luck... (make sure you are eating right and getting plenty of exercise)

Grab a blanket, a book, and a warm cup of milk. Reading always makes you tired and milk has a natural calming effect on the body. (Just make sure it's not chocolate milk, because theres caffiene in chocolate!) Just like morning sickness, this too will pass. Good luck and congrats on the bun in the oven! :-)

Meditation before sleeping really works and will benefit your baby as well. If you've never done it, you can find records that guide you through the process on bookstores.
