Just like suicide, in my opinion. Undoubtedly it is a personal choice, but one not to be promoted or tolerated. Of course, you cannot punish the person euthanised (if that is the correct verb), but the judge the morals of doing it is very difficult.

When in doubt, we can compare it to the death penalty. The opposers of the death penalty donot claim that a murderer isnot to be punished severly. They assert that the justice system makes mistakes and the death penalty is an irreversible one.

Likewise, the practice of euthanasia could be based on misjudgements and doctors who malpractice could use it for other ends. Hence, what the public knows as euthanasia could well be murder.

So, personally, I understand the doctors who (benevolently but illegally) help people die, but I cannot support it to be a legal practice.

I think letting a person suffer is waorse than ending his life. Though the word EUTHANASIA sounds inhuman and insensitive, just think about it. It is done only on people who have a incurable or terminal illness, he is going to die anyways, why let him suffer till he dies?

FYI:Euthanasia was legalized in The Netherlands in 2001 and in Belgium in 2002. In 1997 Oregon became the first state in the U.S. to decriminalize physician-assisted suicide.

This is no place to exhibit racism as someone has done here.
It is despicable.

To answer your q., I think under certain circumstances eu. is to be done. It is the humane way. The problem occurs as to how and who will decide which is a deserving case. What will happen if it is abused? This is the dilemma.

I think every right thinking individual would agree that in some cases it is deserved. It takes a personal experience in one's family to do this soul searching.

Eu does not mean you do not love that person. Actually you love him/her more. That's why you want to see this done.

I feel that euthanasia (along with other issues that will be nameless) and the decision should be left to the patient and/or their spouse or children. My theory is "my body, my choice" and it should be this way!! It's no one's choice but my own what happens to me...or at least this is the way it should be.

Are we talking people or animals? If we are talking people I believe a person has the right to die. If they don't want to fight a disease or continue suffering they should have the right to say "Hey, I fought the good fight now it's time to go. I'm ready to die . I'm ready to go meet my maker." Just because science, technology and medicine CAN keep a person alive does not mean they SHOULD.

Good luck on your paper.

Bad idea. It could be abused too easily by people with motives other than ending a painful existence.
