I don't think it's such a good idea to get a dog if your apartment doesn't allow pets. What if they find out and insist that you get rid of him? That'll just be another animal that will have to go to the pound or something. Don't risk it, for the animal's sake.
Usually, though, even places that don't allow pets mean that they don't allow cats and dogs, so you should probably be able to get another small animal. I love my rabbit, and you say you've had one before, so that's a great option. Another is guinea pigs, which require less exercise than rabbits but are very cuddly if you handle them and talk to them. I've had guinea pigs, too.

Yes there is a breed that does not bark, I can't recall the name but ask a vet and they could get the name for you. If your apartment does not allow dogs, why would you want one? Are you never going to take it outside? Not fair to the dog. If you are caught with the animal you could get evicted. Is it worth it? Maybe for you but not the dog. Try another rabbit or hamster. Don't condemn a dog to living indoors 24/7 it is not fair.

I have two greyhounds and the first one had to be taught to bark to go outside. The second one barks to go out but never at any other time. The greyhounds are capable of barking, but just don't. But, although they don't require a lot of walking, they are a bit too big to hide! lol

a dog barking is a learned behavior if a puppy is not around any barking dogs growing up he in return will not bark..but i think you r asking for a heartache if u get a puppy because soon someone will tell on u and u will have to get rid of the puppy..so maybe look in to a move where u can have the pets you need..so you can provide a home for the life of your puppy.. from one animal lover to another sorry about your loss it is very sad to hear..

There is a breed called a "Basenji" that doesn't bark at all. They're mid-sized and quite good tempered. Check it out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basenji

Get real. You can NOT hide ANY dog where they are not allowed.
BTW-the breed is called a Basenji--way too big to even try to hide.

Greyhounds do not bark....and are pretty much couch potatoes, so they're great for apartments...but they do need to be exercised daily with walks and runs.
