You can start to use the lotions and the oils right away. "They" recommend not to use baby oil on newborn in case they ingest it somehow. If you need to use the oil for cradle cap try using an edible oil like olive oil. This way if they ingest it, it's not harmful. Your baby may smell like a salad for a while though :)

I used baby lotion on my daughter from the time that she was born but I've never used baby oil... I never had much use for it. Unless you have a specific use in mind for the baby oil, I would just stick with a gentle baby lotion.

Do you mean baby oil for cradle cap? If so then actually the best way to get rid of cradle cap is to take a warm (NOT hot) damp wash cloth and lay it on baby's head for about 10 min prior to bath time and then thoroughly shampoo the head GENTLY rubbing the scales with a soft bristle toothbrush for about 2 min. let the shampoo soak while you wash the rest of the baby. Then rub with toothbrush again for 2 more min and rinse. Repeat daily for about a week and it should take care of it :)
You can also use baby lotion anytime :)

Do not use Baby OIL on your baby..
Who would ever think that a product made for babies could also kill them? Unfortunately, baby oil—a staple of the nursery—contains hydrocarbons that can be deadly. If children aspirate baby oil, their lungs become coated with the oil. This blocks oxygen and prevents proper respiration, ultimately leading to chemical pneumonia.
To keep little hands from opening baby oil bottles, store baby oil where your child can't reach it. For further safety, childproof caps on baby oil bottles will be mandatory starting in October 2002; Target stores currently carry childproof caps on their baby oil.
Be aware that other household items, like some sunscreens and automotive products, may also contain liquid hydrocarbons. Always check package ingredients and keep toxins away from children.

Does the toddler have cradle cap? Or are you in elementary words asking what's optimum to positioned on the toddler's dermis. the emblem Aveno is continuously good and secure and Cetaphil. My sister works for a dermatologist and he recommends those for toddlers and smooth dermis. If the toddler has cradle cap there's a gentle eco-friendly bottle the emblem is a few thing like Nature's decision. You rub it on and use a toddler brush to gently artwork it in and get rid of the former dermis and wash it off and that i ought to easily positioned slightly more advantageous to save it truly moisturized.

straight after his first bath. All the lotions and creams are designed for new skin. Baby oil is just a natural mineral oil that has no adverse affects on their skin so go for it.

as soon as they are born. Their skin gets very dry and if you put a littlw baby oil on their head just before bath time, it will help them not get cradle cap.
