3 distinct possibilities come to mind: 1) The easiest solution is a different saddle pad. A thick pad can make the saddle slip. Try a thinner pad with a "grippy" texture. 2) Your horse may just have a very round shape with no withers. Don't overtighten the girth- it won't help and will make the horse uncomfortable. A back shaped like a barrel will always cause the saddle to slide easily. If that's the case, go with a "grippy" pad and use a mounting block, or get someone else to hold the stirrup on the opposite side when you mount. On the trail you can usually find a stump or something to stand on. 3) Make sure the saddle itself fits. If the saddle doesn't fit well, you're hurting your horse every time you ride. Hoping for your sake that it turns out to be one of the first possibilities!
