Chris Tucker became the highest paid actor ever a couple months ago when he signed on to do 'Rush Hour 3' for 30 Million US Dollars! That's just a strait paycheck with no royalties. Some actors take a small or big paycheck PLUS get royalties, so I don't know if anyone's made more. But, Chris is on record for 'biggest paycheck'. :-)

Jim Carrey got $20 million for starring in "The Cable Guy," but you're right -- I think Cruise got somewhere north of $50 million for "War of the Worlds."
