I think the UK should do exactly what Amsterdam have done. There will always be prostitution, so you might as well keep women safe.

Brothels Ipswich

Your question is interesting as brothel would not work in this country as it would have to become legal and comply with regulations.

A lot of sex workers are here illegally so they will undercut the brothels and we will have the same problem. The fact that these girls were warned not to go out and they still did.

Surely they could have lived off the benefits for a while until things calmed down, but they have to feed their habits so they put their lifes on the line.

Dont get me wrong they didn't deserve to die but if you gave society a choice : An innocent schoolgirl studying hard, or a professional women or a junkie prostitute who would you rather this serial killer kill? The best answer obviously is no one but there are some sick people out there and I hope that if this guy does kill again, hopefully he wont, but if he does then he doesn't pick someone innocent. That sounds terrible but I know what I mean.

I personally think brothels are far better than picking up a girl on the street. When someone gets a girl in a brothel they are guaranteed to have someone who is clean and checked for STD'S and at least you know the girl is safe where she is. There seems to be a lot of drugs and crime attached to free lance prostitutes you don't really here of it in brothels. Take the girls in Amsterdam, they are clean and it is regarded as a profession out there. So a local guide told me. I wouldn't visit a brothel because I am married but I think they are a good idea for men or people who are single and just want casual sex.

As i've said for many years now..UK Prostitution SHOULD be legalised, (for both the Girls AND their Punters). Legal Brothels need to be opened up in many main UK towns and cities..
Just for the record, i've NEVER needed to go to see a Prostitute (i'm VERY happy, with MY Partner), but still DO think that the Sex industry in the UK, MUST move into the 21st. century, so that hopefully more "working Girls", will feel safer, than those poor, scared Lassies in Ipswich, at the moment.
And to the Girls, who haven't survived, these horrendous attacks, in Ipswich, my heart goes out to you (and the Families you have all left behind)..
All I can say, is your attacker(s) WILL be caught, eventually.
R.I.P. :(

Not sure how legalised brothels will stop attacks on prostitutes because some will always choose not to work in a brothel and work the streets hence leaving themselves open to attack.

Plus its crap to say prostitutes "stop sex attacks on women" - how do they do that? Men who rape women are sick. It has nothingt to do with them "needing" sex - these men are sick and evil and rape because it gives them a power trip or some sort of thrill - the availability of prostitutes isn't going to stop them!!!

Personally I find prostitution distasteful and the idea of a man using a prostitute to get his "extra" marital kicks is really sick - if my other half did that I'd dump him for cheating, I wouldn't care if he paid for the sex or not!

But I agree that all women should be protected under the law and something should be done to protect women working the streets. I just don't really like the ideal of legalising brothels. To me paying for sex is immoral and legalising it is like saying its "acceptable".

It seems to work in Amsterdam and other countries. So I don't see why not here. It's safer for all parties. The government could even make them pay taxes. I guess the problem of those who don't want to be safe and healthy or those that have no choice remains. I reckon given the choice most clients would opt for a brothel. Win, win situation.

I think if brothels were legalised, then the women working there would feel so much safer (and there'll be less risk of contracting STIs etc). The only problem I have with it is knowing this government, it'll be taxed to the hilt etc etc

yes, brothels shoud be legalised, its scarrey that another mass murderer is on the streets, it should not be a crime for these girls doing what they know i really dont think that they enjoy it, if that is the case then best part of service businesses would be made illiegal i put my hands up, i rip people off, ..........i would go to a brothel if i was really needing it, just hope the police catch this loone soon
