give him something to reduce the fever then put him in a warm bath. The water should not be hot but just nice and warm. Please do not put him in a cool bath this will cause him to shiver and will bring up his temp and cause him to ache. Hope he feels better soon..

My son had very high fevers as an infant and toddler. Tylenol is good, but ask your Doc if you can alternate Tylenol and Motrin. ( You may not be able to because of his age) Alternating the two meds every four hours really does the trick and the Motrin lasts longer and helps baby sleep. Also tempid baths. Not super cold, but as cool as baby can tolerate. He won't like it much, but a few minutes in the cool water really seems to get the fever down. Good luck, I know how hard this is for you to see your baby uncomfortable. If fever doesn't break soon, go to Doc for better treatment.

Katie rose has the best answer.
The alcohol is an old wives tale, all it will do is dry out babies skin and has been known to cause poisoning because it can be absorbed by the skin, baths should be lukewarm to prevent shivering which will increase the temp. also do NOT make him sweat it will not cool him, it will instead spike his fever higher and give him the chills, which will cause the body to raise the temperature even higher. An eight month old baby should be taken to the hosp if the fever hits 104.0 degrees and you cannot bring it down at home. 100.4 is just an elevated temp. and not dangerous for an 8 month old, you probably will not be able to bring it down any further then that until the fever breaks on its own.

What they used to do, is get a pan of warm water, and put a tad of alcohol in it and give him an alcohol rub...it opens the pours and his fever will go down....take him to the hospitial and get him checked out if you are scared, I would....and the alcohol is NOT an old wives tale...it works really good, I would read up on the tylenol and motrin, as it has been shown to give babies seizures and even worse...so be careful...some of the so called old wives tales are tried and true, and it WILL break his fever. honest...

fever in babies is harmful and sometimes be danger, so u have to see another doctor if the first one couldn't help. also don't give him any medicine without the doctor's instructions. don't stop the wet cloth on his head. try to make him warm to make him sweat because sweat reduces the temperature

Try giving him a warm bath. Just be careful not to drop his body temp too much. Near as I can tell you are doing everything right. You could also try dressing him sparsely.

If it is a high fever then take him to the hospital. Anything over 100.4 a child should be taken to the hospital. That is what my doctor has told me when she has not been available.

I would go back to the doctor---better yet, go to the emergancy. If it lasted that long, then go bring him to the nearest emergancy. Just keep making him drink lots of water.

You could try an cool water bath, place a towel with alcohol(rubbing) or rotate the Tylenol and Motrin.
