maybe its time to get a new system

Try "Powering it Down" completely. That means unplug it from the wall, & disconnect it from everything for at least 5 minutes. Then try it again. If that doesn't do the trick then read the manual, & see if there is a section for "Troubleshooting" & follow any suggestions you may find in there.

Years ago I remember when we played a dvd in our system...it never worked after that. Do you have anything on top of the system if so move it. If that doesn't work may be time to get a new one. Good luck!

Is this like the original play station, play station2 or the new play station 3????? If its an older one, then I would say you should get a new one. If its the new one, I would be PISSED and i would be calling and telling them about it and getting a new one.
