No, that is why Affirmative Action is also known as "reverse Racism". It is supposed to reverse the effects of racism by helping minorities, but instead, it makes it harder for white people to accept them.

Affirmative action harms those it is supposed to help by emphasizing race over ability. As a result any minority in an affirmative action environment is assumed to be less capable and only got his or her job because of skin color.
Another issue is that companies that got a contract due to affirmative action instead of price and performance tend to do poor quality work (I have seen this).
An example of how affirmative action hold people back is the fact that the institution where minorities have made the greats strides (the military) promotes purely on individual merit.

Of course affirmative action is not meant to protect white males, so why would their rights be protected under that legal theory? Affirmative action is meant to break the disparity that still exists between minorities (including women and religious minorities) and white males who traditionally controlled the workforce, education, and government.
Fact: Affirmative Action has most helped white women. Go figure.

Nope, it is acceptable to be as racist as you want towards white males. They don't have a foot to stand on where race is involved.
I think this has happened because some people feel that because white males were so successful at pretty much taking over most of the planet they needed to be reigned in a bit. This was a great opportunity for white males because they now play the game of life at a higher difficulty level and are still doing pretty well.

I would hope so, but I don't think so because if I remember right, affirmative action was created for minorities. (ie: women, African-Americans, Latinos, handicap people, Asians, Muslims, and on and on) Basically all laws before the affirmative action stuff were very beneficial and leaning towards white men and women, especially the rich.

No. White males are not allowed to bid on contracts, receive loans, or receive grants set aside for minorities.
Why? Because affirmative action is a racist policy.
For some reason people think if minorities were discriminated against yesterday, then today we will discriminate against white males to make it "fair". So what do we do tomorrow to fix that? Discrminate against someone else?
There is no such thing as "reverse discrimination". It is "discrimination" plain and simple.
-----
INCIDENTALLY, IT IS NOT B.S. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS FIRST HAND. AS LONG AS THE MINORITY BID IS BELOW THE MAXIMUM ALLOWED (WHICH IS CLEARLY ADVERTISED) THEY GIVE IT TO THE LOW MINORITY BID. IN THE CASE I EXPERIENCED, THERE WAS ONLY ONE MINORITY BID, AND 5 NON MINORITY BIDS (HOPING NO MINORITIES BID ON IT). THE MINORITY BID WAS A FEW DOLLARS BELOW THE MAXIMUM, AND OVER 200 THOUSAND (TWICE HIGHER) HIGHER THAN THE OTHERS!
I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE SAY CRAP THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT!

I'm not an expert on affirmative action policies, but this guy seems to have an opinion
George W. Bush: "As all of us saw on television, there is also some deep, persistent poverty in this region as well. And that poverty has roots in a history of racial discrimination, which cut off generations from the opportunity of America. We have a duty to confront this poverty with bold action."
Added: Incicdently that "Minority contract" B.S. in the next answer is ridiculous. Certain public works project require a percentage of the project be contracted to minority/woman owned companies. If a bid comes in two or three times higher the minority bid can be turned down as long as a percentage of work is allocated in another trade. Further, if the minority contract is higher, then that single contract provides enough of a percentage to allow the GC to use non-minority bids on the remainder of the project.

Of course not. Affirmative action is highly discriminatory and clearly unconstitutional. The idea of making exceptions because of the past comes from activists judges who think they can make their own laws.
I supported AA when it first came out. I actually thought it would work and by the time it was successfully challenged in court it would have had the desired affect. I was wrong.

Not unless you're disabled or a veteran, because white males already set the standards in society. They always get first dibs, and affirmative action was put in place for that very reason.
Puts the term "carte blanche" into a whole new perspective.
