Well said!! I can't stand it when people kill spiders, or insects, or any other living thing, just because they are an annoyance or they are afraid of them. I always catch them and put them outside, same with flies, wasps etc - I don't believe in killing any living creature.
I'm not a vegetarian, and I don't have a problem with animals being killed to eat them as long as they are raised and killed humanely, but squashing spiders, flies etc is just cruel and sick. I don't think you can discriminate between them either - believe it or not, flies have a purpose too!

Well, as for being touched by a spider, I'm sure you have, just while you slept. The average person eats 3-5 spiders a year in their sleep. As for avoiding you, just like they would any other person. They will avoid you as you avoid them. The only reason they would have to touch you is if you are in their path of travel, you upset a web and it falls on you, or you are threatening it so it attacks. Cockroaches have natural instincts, haven't you seen them scatter when the light turns on? I think of them like people, some are smarter then others, and the dumb ones get squished.

I got the power!!!
No, seriously, I am very kind to spiders; but give me a rolled up newspaper and a closed room and flies watch out Super Smasher is in the house!
What freaks me though is how I can draw back from killing cockroaches; horrid , disgusting things that they are.
I think I am secretly scared of the dam things!

I don't squash spiders (I catch them and put them outside), but then I don't object to others doing so either. I can understand the fear people have, and why they feel the need to squash them, but you do have a valid point re: catching flies.

Actually, when I find a spider in my house, I do my best to catch it and let it go outside. I don't have the heart to kill it. Same goes for other bugs that happen to find their way in. They're just trying to make their way in this world like everything else!

Yes, I do object, unless the spider is poisonous and threatening to harm a child or other animal. My grandmother always says, "If you want to thrive, let a spider run alive."

Yes it's cruel, you shouldn't kill anything just because it scares you.The poor thing is probably more scared of you.Everything is here for a reason either good or bad.I'd better watch out hadn't i?

I don't understand why people insist on killing all insects period.
Spiders, flies, moths, wasps, ants, you name it... none of these have the right to exist in most people's eyes.

they're just icky! although i did leave a web near my window for awhile because it was catching a bunch of gnats. so i guess it just depends on where you find the spider!
