Interesting question. Theoretically you are right by today's standards. Just look at Bush and Cheney. They are just following their dreams and they believe in what they are doing. But, the age old argument about society revolves around what is good for the group, versus what is good for the individual. If you favor the society too much, you squash the spark of the the individual, and if you favor the individual too much, you can easily end up with Hitler. That is one of the reasons humans came up with some standards, and why this country has been so relatively successful, we achieved a balance of both of those competing social drives. And, for the individual, you can do whatever you like, but we have agreed that you may do so, as long as you do not harm someone else in the process. Hitler followed his dream all the way to where he had no problem destroying the lives of hundreds of millions of people, and was actually responsible for the deaths of tens of millions. And he did it all with zeal, not hesitating at all. For most of us, not able to comprehend such hubris, the only way to describe such a man is to label him as Evil personified.

Hitler was not Evil. Evil and Good are a matter of perspective, however what was done under his rein was not beneficial to human kind except the fact for the medical advances on an unprecedented scale but at the cost of live human subjects, so in the scheme of things everyone of us is a dead man and woman so you can not call death Evil or the action of death however he did play god in the sense that he helped influence the fate of millions of lives, hope that is philosophical enough for you.

following your dreams is fine, thats what freedom is about. the problem is when you stop other peoples dreams....or right to live for that matter. put yourself in the other shoes and see how it would feel just before you have your life ended because someone doesnt like you or what you stand for. its just not right in so many levels.

Is there really a purpose for you? What about the dreams of all the people killed and their families. Did one mans (if you can even call him that) dreams outweigh all of theirs? NO!

Some people defend Hitler because people should always (as you say) follow their dreams and their beliefs. But, hello!!!! Would you follow your beliefs in the process of killing millions of innocent people?!! OF course many say he didn't kill them (which he didn't) he just ordered the killings and shameful deeds. Maybe that is how he led his life without guilt or shame. But he killed millions of people and whoever agrees with HItler and with anything he did should rot in hell because it means they are fine with so many dead because of their religion.
And btw Quasamido. rock on! Thats exactly what is true! =))))

Why would anyone be encouraged to kill people just
because of their ethnic background?! This madman
wanted to rule the world. I glad he was finally
stopped. He was a menace to the world.

If he had won he would be diefied today. He lost and the victors write the history, unless of course you are a Japanese student and then you are taught that you were the one attacked in WW2.
