Eight year old girls are delightful to buy for!
I am a mom of one and I have 15 Brownie Girl Scouts in my troop, so I know this age well.
What is so nice is that they are still young to enjoy being a kid:
* baby dolls, barbies etc.. are still a hit
* arts & crafts kit (a big box of scissors, paper, markers, glue, glitter, paints, stickers etc...)
* a cd player with some fun kid's music cd's(Hannah Montana, Kids Bop, High School Musical, Cheetah Girls)
* Littlest Pet Shop is huge this year. Cute little animals girls love.
* Roller skates
* Lego's Mosaics
* Coupons for activities are fun (movies, skating,science museum, pottery class, gymnastics etc..)
* A gift certificate to get her hair "upstyled" at a beauty shop. Doesn't cost much but she will feel like a princess!
* Books (American Girl, Junie B, Jones, Amber Brown, Little House books are all popular at this age)
* A Nintendo DS is a good choice of an electronic game for a girl. There are lots of games suited perfectly for her age.
-Harvest Moon
-Hannah Montana
-Winx
-Charlotte's Web
-Over the Hedge
-Dogs, Cats, Horses or Hamster Life
-Strawberry Shortcake
* Girly stuff: hair bows, play makeup, nail polish, a big feather boa
* Games for the PC for her to play (Nancy Drew, Pajama Sam, Barbie, Huntsville or Titanic all all good for this age).
Your 8-year old will love anything that is pink or purple, having to do with animals, making them look pretty, giggling, and having fun- I promise!
Merry Christmas!

Buy her a Nintendo DS. She will love it. They are roughly $130, and games run about $30. They have many "girly" games that are very simple to play. You could look into some such as NintenDogs, and there are many, many more. I know you may think, she is only 8 she will never understand this. But this will not be the case, the games our simple. She will get your moneys worth. Trust me.

You're the parent, you should be reminding her to take a bath. She is only 8 years old a bath is really not that important to her. I would not spank an 8 year old she is a little old for that. Try taking things away from her that she likes. I don't know about you but when I type in these answers they tell me when I'm spelling something wrong.

There is a Barbie Doll that comes with the Mini Tickle Me Elmo that girls love. Look for mine on sale in ebay. I am the most careful packer for shipping . There are some Barbie dress up clothes also. Or beads - they love beads to make jewelry or whatever.
wildhorseracelover (also is my selling name on ebay)

My niece wanted the "High School Musical" DVD board game. It's $20 and you can get it just about anywhere. My wife found it at Walgreen's on Sunday for $15.

Buy what she likes for Christmas. Take her to a Department store and observe her actions. That may be the best clue to what she would like as a gift.

I'm sure she would love Barbies, or perhaps a little make-up kit (maybe used with supervision. lol.)
