Not only does he now have the record for returns for TDs (6), he also impacts the game like no other rookie...in the two games where the bears offense couldnt score, he had return TDs...that dude is instant momentum! Sure, colston and bush are having solid seasons, but bush hasnt really turned it on until lately, and he has the built in hype working for him..colston is having a solid year too, but so is every NO receiver...they insert Henderson in the lineup and he does exactly what Colston does.

Everyone has solid points as well...this is a wide open year for ROY....Jones-Drew was great last week as well. I would say Leinert would be a little behind Young just because of young winning games

Hester is Great 6 Ret TDs, he is the new Dante Hall
but I'm not giving it to him yet
I'm more impressed with Maurice Jones Drew 300+ toatal yards against the colts plus he has scored atleat one TD in his last 5 games I think
LOOK AT VINCE YOUNG, you cannot tell me Hester has more of an impact on his team. Young is Winning games by himself and giving that team confidence.
WHO DOES THAT AS A ROOKIE??
had he start at the beginging of the season they might be in the playoff hunt
Colston is Good But its just hard to make a case for him when he is not playing

Hester definitely should be considered but I don't think he will win the award. The simple fact is that the NFL doesn't look as highly on Kick/Punt Returners as every down positions. If hester received more WR time and caught a few more Td's, then he might have a shot but even the year where Dante Hall was returning punts and kicks for Td's and there was all the hype, he wasn't even considered for league MVP.
As for who I think right now is the favourite for rookie of the year. Its either Colston or Vince Young right now. Bush has had a good season but he splits time in the backfield and like you said is pretty much like most receivers on the Saints. As for Colston, he has been a top 10 receiver most of the season and for a rookie who wasn't drafted in the first round that is big. I think he will definitely get some consideration but he needs to stay healthy and keep it up.
Vince Young though is probably the fav right now. I know he hasn't had amazing numbers for a Qb and that I may sound like I am jumping on the bandwagon but I look at it like the NFL would. One this is a player that has the potential to turn a game around and uplift his team to victory (Look at indy game, and this past weekend vs Texans). Second look at his record lately as the starter. He has helped the titans to 4 straight wins including victories over indy, nyg and @ phi (ok so Mcnabb got hurt). He is 6-4 as a starter and if they don't start off the season with 5 straight losses, this is a wildcard team right now.
Honestly its close between colston, bush and young right now but as for your questions, Hester definitely should be considered and a couple more td's and he might be.

im kind of biased being from texas and a UT fan. i was going to give it to colston but colston has been hurt of late which gave reggie bush time to step up over the last couple of weeks. so i dont think either of them win the roy beause they play on the same team and will have to share votes. hester is great lets face it, but he does play defense. so you have to ask what has he done defensively other than return kicks? both go hand in hand unfortunately. lets say by some small miracle the titans win their final three games, can you argue that Vince Young is the ROY?

All of your points are valid and excellent.
I can find no reason why he shouldn't be Rookie of the Year...UNLESS...by some twist of fate VINCE YOUNG, because of his SPECTACULAR PLAY of late gets the TITANS into the playoffs.
Even if they get there and lose the first game, that would ba a heck of an accomplishment for a team that should not have gotten that far.
Albeit his accomplishments are superb; Hester is seeminly on a better team whereas Vince Young is making the best of and bring the best out of a growing offense.

Hester would be a great candidate for rookie of the year if you want my opinion! He is insanely quick, but don't forget Vince Young and Matt Leinart, Vince Young is 6-4 as a starter and keeps making 4th quarter comebacks, he is carrying a team that was not suppose to be there this year. This is one of the best years for rookies in a little while, so the choice will be really hard.

.being a bears fan, I'm probably a little bias, but i totally agree. Hester is "instant momentum" , a touchdown waiting to happen, and a field position machine. i do think it's tough to give ROY to a return man, but man is that guy electrifying. and he made a nice tackle on Steven Jackson too last night. he has more than justified his being drafted early, and he's making the bears front office look like geniuses for drafting him so early.

Ok I'll grant you he does create a big presense on special teams, I don't recall anyone having this big of an impact in that area since Dante Hall of KC or Desmond Howard back in his Green Bay days. However to give the rookie of the year award to Hester would be like handing the heisman this year to Mcfadden over Brady Quinn and Troy Smith.

How about Morece Jones-Drew. He is so fun to watch, he also had a return for TD sunday. Hester did give up a TD to Holt last night.

Dont get me wrong Hester is Great but he is going up against alot
he has Bush, Barber3 and Colsten in the NFC,remember they have one for the NFL and the Conferences, and in the Afc you got Jones Drew. He is good but not good enough

It would be unprecedented for something like that to happen, but let him score some key TD returns in the post season and I think its bound to happen.
