This is interesting - I found a website with an unfinished story about The Chocolate Man - it's about 100 years ago, by Linda Fuller. Here is the 'story so far' as it appears on the website, and the link is below as well. Hope this helps - it sounds pretty cool!

In Bon Bon town once on a time -- Lived Dan, the hero of this rhyme; -- And his thoughts on candy so often ran -- That his folks all called him Sweet Tooth Dan; -- Every time Dan got a cent -- In the candy shop 'twould soon be spent; -- He ate so many caramel creams -- That they followed him in the Land o' Dreams -- So napping one day, young Sweet Tooth Dan -- Dreamed the dream of a Chocolate Man.

The Chocolate Man on a store shelf stood -- And pointed a gun at the candy wood -- Where a candy bird with candy wings -- Flew over all kinds of candy things, -- A-singing a candy song so sweet -- That powdered sugar soon covered its feet -- And filled the air with candy tunes -- That rose and fell like toy balloons -- Till they burst on the ear of Sweet Tooth Dan -- And he looked in and spied that Chocolate Man.

Dan dreamed that he from his home had come -- Clutching a dime 'twixt finger and thumb -- To buy for Mother a birthday gift -- And run back home so very swift -- He'd never be missed until........

I don't know if your lullaby is at this website, but they do have alot of lyrics here- kiddiddles.com then go to Mojo's lyrics & click on lullabies. It might be in a different category, also. Maybe you'll find some other songs your Grandma used to sing to you!

when you open your eyes, there will be no chocklate man,
there will be a big horrible beast,
so sleep tight my little one,
the end is near.....
