Saddam Hussein's execution will not likely serve as a uniting force in any positive way. It will however likely unite different smaller sects in a common negative perception towards the occupying forces.

This will very likely lead to some blood-letting, suicide attacks, kidnapping and effectively more of the same that has been happening thus far.

That is if they carry out the sentence. I personally feel it to be a lot more productive to harness Saddam's influence to restore order in Baghdad, allowing him an opportunity to redeem himself for his deeds (not that parties other that Saddam have a LOT to atone for, but thats beyond topic).

Excuse me, but the baathists are not in power now. The fallout will be same-old-same-old: car bombs, ambushes and property damage-- all the things intelligent folks don't do.

Saddam will be replaced by some other madman once we pull out of Iraq and Bush was too shortsighted to see this.

I'm not sure if there would be any more than what we have in Iraq now.

I wish they would exterminate Saddam ASAP. Who knows it might even help the situation?

More than what's happening now? I think they are doing all that they can right now. It may escalate on a small scale, but it's already a mess.
