Having a night out with a friend and unsure what pubs and clubs are available in Glasgow city centre that suit our age group. Dont want to end up in some student bar and feel like a dinosaur! We are both in our 40's.

Anywhere in the Merchant City if yer an upmarket sort of person - just google Merchant City, Glasgow for the names of some of them - and they are all good. Oran Mor in Byres Rd (West End) or any of the bars in Ashton Lane (off Byres Road).

If you want to get down and have a laugh, then upstairs at the Horseshoe (Drury Lane, City Centre) as someone else already suggested (downstairs is a gigantic bar with lots of guys with beards doing serious drinking and philosophising).

There are lots of google pages on Glasgow pubs so just browse them!

There are loads of places. All Bar one on St Vincent street serves food and is a nice place for a drink. The nicest is the Corinthian on Ingram St. Does really nice cocktails as does the Metropolitian Bar in Candleriggs. Arta caters for all ages and has a load of bars / dancing etc. There are so many places to go in the Merchant City that cater for all ages. Would actually be easier to say where not to go! Sure you will find somewhere and you'll have a ball. Beware though folk get dressed up for nights out in Glasgow so best party frocks forward!

Oh what a terrible shame.
Didn't anyone tell you?

All the pubs in Glasgow shut down about 6 months ago.
Lack of business.
Nobody drinks in Glasgow.
All too busy in church.
And the bring and buy sales at the Women's Institute.
And knitting.
And stuff.
