I think it's a very logical step in the quest for inter-stellar travel. If Werner Von Braun had his way, we would have had this "platform" in space before we reached the moon. That was his ideal jumping off point for space exploration. As it stands today, he was correct in his thinking: That a moon mission in 1969 would have stalled space travel, which it did for over a decade. Now we will have a viable place to exist in space where we can continue experimenting with life in a weightless environment, allowing us to make even greater strides than ever before....I approve!

It was a pretty good first try at making a reusable space plane. But now it is old technology and it is time to move on to a second generation vehicle.
