Why are we CONSIDERED the most free country in the world? What kind of things in the constitution protect these freedoms? Why can we walk down the street critizing George Bush w/out getting arrested? Do We appreciate all these freedoms fully?

Our Constitution makes us free.... as far as being the most free country in the world.. that's not true anymore... at one time we were but a bunch of other countries based their government on ours... when we had freedom and rights other countries didn't.. through the years they have based their country on our "idea", which is what makes us a great country.. we are the youngest country, yet we were very influential all over the world.... Both freedom of speech and freedom of religion are two things that makes us free among other things.
edit: and please don't listen to people tell you that the Administration is stripping your rights... I'm not a fan of this Administration.. but it is untrue.. there are laws of what they can pass.. and if any law they pass are unconstitutional the Supreme Court will overturn the law... the guys that made the Constitution knew better than to give the Government to much freedom.. so you still have the same rights today that they had 10 years ago...

I got a news flash for you honey. Since George Bush took office. Americans are now the LEAST free of all the western countries. He and Dick Cheney have been stripping all of you citizen of your rights and freedoms at amazing speed. Your major media is not serving you the public. They lined up behind their cooperate owned bosses who give large money to get the people they want elected.
God help you if you ever get in trouble.

Oh, several things. By this being a Democratic government, we can respond direcly with our officials. Because of things outlined in the Constitution, we are free to do what we want. These, along with other factors, are what makes us free.

What makes us free is our willingness (in the past) to defend our way of life.
