The question was a good one, the subtext makes no sense at all.

Contemporary theater can be defined as part of the post-modern art movement and is typically based on improvisation and sometimes lacks even a coherent narrative.

If you are talking technology, that's another story. The show I just did ran on computers which tied the video projections and sound together - everything was stored on the computers. There was an option to tie the lighting as well, but I opted to let the stage manager call it.
